COMPANY PROFILEAgroco is a privately owned company based on a 450 hectare arable family farm in Suffolk. All our products and services have been developed and tested on the farm prior to marketing them on the open market.
Oliver Cooper is the farmer behind the company. Oliver, with his inventive mind, spends most of his time, when not in the field, in the farm workshop. His creative nature has led to him designing and building the majority of the cultivation equipment used on the farm over the years.
In 1978, Oliver realised there was an opportunity to substantially reduce the cost of fertilisers on the farm. As a large user of liquid fertiliser, he saw the folly of buying in liquid when most of the bulk is water. So he went on to develop a system to mix liquid fertiliser on the farm. This reduced his annual nitrogen bill by a startling 35%.
Peter Eaden joined Oliver at this stage, and with his marketing experience of working at senior level with a major importer of heavy mining and construction equipment, the path was set to the sales and marketing strategy employed today. Many miles were covered and many a farm office door entered throughout the UK over the next few years. The idea soon caught on resulting in an NFU Mutual marketing award in 1986. Today, the product range has broadened and covers all aspects of liquid fertiliser production, handling and application.
The Agroco Umbrella nozzle design is now a market leader in the UK and Europe. Attempts have been made to copy it, but none have the variable application range or the simplicity.
Everything is made in hand with farm staff trained to a number of different skills.
Agroco products can be found throughout the UK, Ireland, France and Germany. We can be found at most of the major UK and international agricultural shows, but enjoy a farm visit more than anything.
Modern times led the two to form a limited company in year 2000 after trading for 20 years on ‘a gentleman’s agreement’ basis, with Oliver and Peter becoming joint directors in Agroco (Liquid Fertiliser Plants) Ltd.
Agroco is the only independent specialist liquid fertiliser consultancy in the UK and prides itself on its advice based on years of sound on-farm practical experience, not only at Manor Farm, but across the country.
